A gorgeously asymmetrical hand cut jade necklace, truly art to wear! We created the focal piece from some uniquely colored Burmese jade. The stone shades from “mutton fat” grayish white to a rusty orange & is a wedge shape. The top & straight side of the wedge are beveled & polished, while the opposite side is left naturally rough. The stone is held in the serpentine embrace of heavy gauge copper wire which is both bail & the ring of a toggle style, front facing clasp. The second photo shows the toggle open.
We created the necklace with darkly oxidized, chunky copper rolo chain, spaced by copper wire wrap links holding a mix of gemstone beads. There’s an ocher “moon” of fossilized coral, elongated beads of lions paw oyster shell, rust & white mookaite, banded agate, a crescent shaped bead of peach moonstone, a very old African bi-cone bead of white agate, a flat disc of natural bamboo coral and solid copper twist & granulation beads.
The length of this one of a kind necklace is 25″ (63.5 cm) in total, including the toggle clasp assemblage. The focal measures 3″ (7.62 cm) in length, including the wire bail form & 1.25″ (3.17 cm) at it’s widest point.
