Rich, earthy, bold colors in these boho tribal style pipestone wheel earrings. They start with our own hand cut wheel tabs of polished, earth red catlinite (or pipestone). Geologically, it is argillite, or metamorphosed mudstone. Physically, tiny earth particles cemented together with various silicates; quartz, feldspar or mica. Spiritually, the soul of the Earth itself. The brick red wheels are held in the embrace of oxidized copper wire wrapping & topped with chunky beads of hand cut genuine jet. Our cutting jet (or lignite) is Acoma jet, mined in the southwest U.S. Lignite is a gemstone, a mineraloid technically, a precursor to coal formed from wood under extreme earthy pressure. Also called, "black amber" because it carries an electrical charge like amber.
These earth energized earrings measure 2.25" (5.71 cm) in total length, including their hand formed, oxidized sterling ear wires. In weight, they are 0.255 oz, or 7.2 grams (per earring)...3 U.S. pennies weigh 7.5 grams.
