An intensely detailed "art to wear" necklace, this one of a kind piece features a copper wire wrapped "caged" tree, woven seed bead rope necklace & faceted carnelian. The focal was created with the inspiration of some of our canyon oaks; twisting trees seemingly growing out of pure rock...often in the literal embrace of stony crevices. The oxidized copper wire wrap tree is "rooted" on a nugget of translucent Mexican opal. Then, an "alcove" of woven copper wire snugs around the tree, framing & supporting it. The alcove is studded with faceted rounds of shaded carnelian.
The necklace is created with tiny etched, iridescent & cut glass seed beads that echo the carnelian & opal colors, meticulously stitched into an endlessly spiraling rope. Along the seed beads, more faceted carnelian beads are spaced.
This unique statement necklace measures 18.5" (46.99 cm) in total length, including it's graceful, oxidized copper toggle clasp. The focal itself measures 2.75" (6.98 cm) in length by just under 1" (2.54 cm) in width.
