Do you make your jewelry?
Actually, this is the most frequent question I get, when set up at events...at Elksong Jewelry, ALL of my work is produced in my home studio, right down to many of the findings (ear wires, clasps, ball pins, etc.). So, you can be assured that your piece of Elksong Jewelry is a completely handmade, original design by me!
Tell me about the ear wires on your earrings...
I have 2 different catagories of ear wires; all of my Field of Flower earrings (and occassionaly some others) have antiqued brass, copper or silver finish lever back ear wires. While not technically "hypo allergenic", I purchase them from a reputible seller & they are lead & nickel free. In other words, if you don't already have metal sensitivities, these will be unlikely to provoke any. Plus, they are very secure, you won't lose an earring with these!
All my other style earrings feature my handmade ear wires, created with oxidized sterling (mostly), 14kt gold fill, surgical steel or rhodium plated.
If you see a pair of earrings you love, but are unsure of the ear wires (either material or style), please do contact me, I'll be happy to switch out ear wires for whatever you prefer.
How do I clean my wire wrap pieces?
Your wire wrap jewelry order will include a cleaning pad, for cleaning & re polishing. When using this cleaning pad on wire wrap pieces, always work on a section at a time, support the area you're cleaning from underneath, use firm, but gentle pressure & try to "go with the grain", that is, in the direction the wire goes.
These cleaning pads will help your wire wrap jewelry pieces keep their mellow, oxidized gleam!
