Inspired by a mountain hike, this copper tree & tiny owl necklace reminds us of nature's wonders. Years ago, while on a hike in the rocky canyons near our home, we encountered a majestic horned owl, perched in a twisted old mesquite tree. We were entering a long, tube-like overhang of brown-gray rock, that felt like a petrified wave, or a mysterious grotto...with the tree & owl as guardian.
The focal is a (reversed) teardrop shaped cabochon of beautifully patterned picture jasper. An intricate, oxidized wire wrap tree is fixed to the double frame on the stone & the tiny, verdigris brass owl is secure on his branch.
The necklace is created strung bead style, with rounds of picture jasper, faceted black tourmaline rondelles, cylindrical beads of brown serpentine & saucer beads of African (turquoise) jasper. Rich with copper details, the necklace closes with a handmade, oxidized copper wire wrap hook & eye clasp.
This necklace measures 20" (50.80 cm) in total length, including the clasp. The focal measures about 2" (5.08 cm) in length, including it's bail and 1 & 1/8" (2.84 cm) at it's widest point.
