This one of a kind, abstract malachite art necklace features unique elements. First, the necklace starts with hand-sawn mixed metal sections, carefully fitted to each other. The center sterling silver piece is set with a deep green botyoidal malachite free form cabochon. Both the sterling & the copper sections are stamp textured. Next, the two pieces are “stitched” together with oxidized copper wire wrap. The wire wrapping also attaches the focal to handmade heavy gauge sterling ball end wires with curvy, sinuous shapes. The next step is oxidizing & steel wool polishing the focal. Finally, sterling wire wrapped links, holding a mix of malachite & black glass beads, attach the focal to a simple black leather cord, with the links spaced by vintage India silver beads. The cord necklace closes with a hand made, hammered sterling toggle clasp.
This unique necklace measures about 19.25″ (48.89 cm) in total length, including the toggle clasp. The focal piece measures about 3″ (7.62 cm) from the cord, including the beaded links. At it’s widest point, it measures 1.75″ (4.44 cm).
